More than 500,000 people on TikTok shared a quick and easy way to open a glass jar with a teaspoon.

The talented baker and cake decorator Tegan'Tigga' Maccormack from Melbourne revealed this simple technique in a short video demonstrating how to easily open a sealed jar.

Although many people often place the jar under hot water or gently tap the countertop, Taigen slides the end of the spoon under the lid until she hears a bang.

She barely used any strength and twisted it a little aside before hearing the popping sound.

"This is just a quick trick for those who are trying to open the jar. Sometimes I see people using it to tap the edge of the bench to try to open the lid-you don't need that, I just need a teaspoon," Tai Root said in the clip.

At the beginning of the video, Tegan can be seen struggling to open a can of Passata tomato sauce.

She used a spoon to slide the handle to the lips of the jar, almost effortlessly, and twisted slightly before hearing the popping sound.

"There was a bang, which meant that all the pressure in the jar was gone, so the lid was unscrewed-very simple!" she said.

'thanks! I always bump them on the bench," one TikTok user wrote.

"I just gave the jar to my dad," another said, and a third wrote, "I don't know this!"

But a few people are shocked that smart hackers are not "common sense."

"Of course everyone already knows this??" one woman wrote.
